China Fashion Find: Let’s talk hardcore business.
An earlier Fashion Dragon post about designer Alicia Lee mentions how China’s online shopping giant JD.com (京东商城) will host a runway event during New York Fashion Week, featuring a handful of carefully selected Chinese designers on the rise. This highly-anticipated platform will give the creators an opportunity to showcase their creations in front of a broader international audience.
According to Newsoracle.com, “JD.com, Inc. (JD), China’s largest online direct sales company, declared on Feb. 03, 2016 that it will host a runway show during New York Fashion Week this month that will highlight the unique creations of leading up-and-coming designers in China’s fashion scene and underscore JD.com’s growing strength in the Chinese apparel market.
Following the success of the JD Fashion Show during Milan Fashion Week last fall, JD.com again collaborated with the Milan-based Europe Design Center to choose five China-based designers deserving of a wider platform to share their talents more broadly.”
“Break a leg” to all those Fashion Dragon designers participating!
Update as of February 11: “In addition to mainland Chinese designers Alicia Lee, Ruiping Guo [Guo Ruiping, 郭瑞萍] , and Chi Zhang [Zhang Chi,张驰], the show will feature the looks of Taiwanese label Gioia Pan and the sporty designs of soccer star Tim Cahill, who plays on the Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League and the Australian national football team.” Thank you, Jing Daily.
