I.T Beijing Market in February 2018 rebranded itself as Dover Street Market Beijing (DSMB), promising that it was the first of a three-layered transformation for the venue. True indeed given in August of 2018, a four-storey 2,200-square glass house in Taikoo Li Sanlitun opened its highly artsy attractive doors to visitors and shoppers alike.
Temper Magazine’s Trending segment casts a net upon all that is throwing tantrums within the world of China Fashion across a variety of global sources. This very necessary segment makes for a collection of largely non-Temper Magazine-original content dipping its toe into the deep indigo-dyed pool that is the ocean of Middle Kingdom fashionable astonishment. Temper shows some pop-cultural love for CHIcn, a professional initiative for art management and development in cooperation with businesses. Time for CHIcn to sweep us off our feet and straight into Beijing’s latest treasure in the ArtXFashion realm.

The venue’s new interior space has been simultaneously updated with the global DSM concept as in existence from New York to Singapore, incorporating the idea of constant and consistent change according to the seasons.

CDG AW18
The Comme des Garçons (CDG) AW18 collection features a selected few pieces bearing printed artworks by the late Jean-Michel Basquiat. Fun fact:The revered artist himself in back in 1987 walked the CDG Homme runway. Sway.

CDG AW18
CDG, founded initially by Rei Kawakubo — coincidentally or not the founder of the DSM platform as well, proudly introduced inside the newly decked out Beijing venue alongside the AW18 “doodled” Vetements collection — worth noticing. For the playful graphic tees, Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia invited kids from Zuerich to draw their own imaginative interpretation of the phrase “Elephant in the Room”.

Furthermore, the graffiti-printed high-top sneakers by Vetements, as seen above, are detailed with “artful scribbles” by the designer himself — making for quite the grounding sight. Each pair comes with different detailing.
Art is captured within the walls of DSMB with the Youths In Balaclava. Multifaceted imprint is back with an all-new venture, bringing fun and fashion together and laying the groundworks for the group’s upcoming streetwear leg entitled “YIB”. The latter positions itself as yet another creative outlet for members to express their own artistic sensibilities, all coming together and embracing one another in the creative design process.
In a quick play on the words of Basquiat himself: If I’m away from fashion for a week, I get bored.
