LAWO (拉我, which roughly translates as “take me with”) is a social-fashion platform recently released by WeCare Ltd., combining the forces of technology and fashion.
A new app to help aspiring It-girls to “become more fashionable, self-confident, popular, and happy.”
The LAWO mobile app offers a user-friendly service — exclusive to the China market, yet available in both Chinese and English — which allows fashion fans to get on board with the latest international fashion news, as well as engage with fashion advisors and budding VIPs. The app basically provides a 2016 pint-sized and further-evolved version of Clueless Cher’s 1995 computerized closet. With your average Chinese pair of hipster glasses glued to mobile screens pretty much all day, China’s fashion crowds already come flocking.
Whether it’s some professional dressing advice you’re in need of or the latest green brand you’re in search of, LAWO offers a sleekly designed hand.
May Zheng, the avant-gardiste behind LAWO, sets out to provide “a [free] platform for users to obtain reliable and useful feedback,” she tells City Weekend Shanghai at the app launch, “in their seemingly never-ending quest to become more fashionable.” Zheng aims to help aspiring It-girls to “become more fashionable, self-confident, popular, and happy. My personal feeling is that when a social platform commercializes itself, such as with shopping, it loses its sense of genuineness and overall user appeal as there is now an overriding objective of selling products to users.”
And people in fashion are said to be selfish. Tsk.
The app allows users to glance over a variety of fashion blogs for some much-needed style stimulation or subscribe to receive daily feeds of their whopping virtual walk-in closets. Whether it’s some professional dressing advice you’re in need of or the latest green brand you’re in search of, LAWO offers a sleekly designed hand. “While you can use the app for reliable fashion advice from professionals, you can also simultaneously use it as a social media platform to make friends and gain followers who share their passion for fashion,” Zheng concludes.
I’m on board.
